About

I am currently a lecturer and preceptor in the Master of Arts Program in the Humanities at the University of Chicago, and I am also a lecturer in the university's Humanities Core.  I received my Ph.D. in English Language & Literature from Chicago in December 2015.

My research concerns the literature of the Atlantic eighteenth century and British Romanticism, with a focus on empire, postcolonialism, and gender. As an instructor, I have taught texts ranging from Homeric epic to Shakespeare to the contemporary Japanese novel.

This website houses my complete teaching portfolio, including sample syllabi, sample evaluations, and statement of teaching philosophy. I am happy to provide additional materials, and I can be reached at tschweiger@uchicago.edu.
